Most Popular City for Music Lessons

Since our start in 2010 as a little music studio in a small town in Washington state with one instructor, we have grown to cover a variety of key cities throughout the United States with our piano, singing, guitar lessons, and more. So we decided to do a little research to see which cities were the most popular.

We started first by evaluating which cities we received the most requests from for lessons. Not just students who signed up for lessons, but who contacted us about the possibility of lessons. The most popular was San Diego, followed by Seattle, Atlanta, and Portland/Beaverton metro.

We also looked at signups. And once again, San Diego came out on top, with the most popular signups for guitar first, then piano, and then singing lessons. This was again followed by Portland, Atlanta, and Seattle in that order.

Digging a little deeper even, we decided to see which keywords in Google searches that students were actually typing in. San Diego, yet again, came out on top. The top keyword searches were guitar lessons san diego, piano lessons san diego, and singing lessons san diego.

So what does this mean for music teachers? Should you pack up and move to one of the above cities? Not necessarily.

In fact, if you want to start accessing some of these students, the best way to do this without relocating is to start marketing yourself as an online instructor. We will soon be offering the option of adding online lessons to your profile in the very near future.
